Picture of my old high school in the process of being demolished!
High-school was pretty rough for me (as it is for everyone usually) so this feels kinda nostalgic & cleansing.

It's unfortunate that they're tearing down some memories, even though it might have sucked then. But I've gotta say, some great photos have come out of it :)

There is something strangely cathartic about seeing an old high school get demolished (I totally understand the "high-school was pretty rough for me" part).

It's strange how you say it's an old building because it looks fairly modern (despite it looking like Godzilla stepped on it of course). Maybe it just seems that way because the snow makes everything look sterile.

And yeah, it's a pity they didn't salvage the doors or lockers, but if there isn't a facility for it, what can you do? Maybe some eccentric artist will see this and think, "Ooooh! Those lockers would work GREAT in my next project!" XD

Yes! About 50 meters or so from the demolished building they are making this huge superschool. It looks really nice!

Whoa you'd think they'd take all the stuff (i.e. lockers) out of it before tearing down the whole thing...

Man, I'd love to go back to my old high school and find it like this. Unfortunately, last time I went by, it was still in use. :( Even from the road, it had that uber-depressing institutional look about it, like something from the old Soviet Block. I hate to think poor students are still being subjected to those crappy buildings!

You should use this for a background in a splash page in The Zombie Hunters. It is odd that they didn't remove the door or the lockers, the resale would bring a nice little penny.

A large portion of the lockers were in various states of disrepair, and thats when I went to the school...oh god 6 years ago haha. They MIGHT salvage it for steel, but there aren't many places that would buy old doors like that and lockers xD

Interesting that they didn't salvage anything, like the doors, or even the lockers. And I agree with one of the other commenters, the wires look like vines, and the cinder blocks on the ground look like leaves in the snow.

I was amazed at the steel wires, I had no idea that that's what it's innards looked like.

Wow, that's really cool.

My high school went through a heavy renovation right after I left. It's still there, but it doesn't look much like the one I remember. It's really weird.

I have mixed feelings from experiences like this. Even when I didn't even like whatever it was, I still feel somehow sad and melancholy when it comes to an end. It was still an integral part of life for a time, and when that chapter closes, I can't shake the bittersweet feeling.

It's gone.

Yeah, I experienced it too actually, like, I can never 'visit' my old school again, or say 'I went to school here' because it doesn't exist anymore, a bit saddened by it. But highschool was possibly one of the most horrifying experiences I have had in my life :XD: Sooo eehhhhh mixed feelings!

Haha, yeah, I know what you mean XD

Maybe it's a little more mixed for me, because I was lucky enough to have high school get gradually better and end on a good note by the time the last year came around.

Middle school was the real hell for me. D: I'm pretty sure that building is still standing. XD

Why were they Tearing it down?

A number of reasons, mostly because it's INSANELY old and falling apart, asbestos, too small, etc. So they are also demolishing another small high-school and combining the two to make for a big super-school. It looks very pretty!
