Okay, got my computer back. They don't know whats wrong with it--yet they'll need to look at it longer. The diagnostics are free, so it didn't cost us anything at least. They know its not the RAM, and its not a heat issue. The power supply seems to be in working order but they will have to check at it closer or something yadda yadda computer mumbo jumbo. So I have to back up the shit out of everything because it might be a hard-drive issue.
So in the meantime send my computer good vibes so it continues to run. Or chug in this case, the fan is making a scuveeeeeeeeeeeeeechuggachugga sound because my computer, I guess, wanted to not only freeze every time I looked at it--but to voice it's impending death symphony too. Its to the point where no amounts of blaring Nine Inch Nails and Sarah McLachl--err Marylin Manson could drown out its blood curdling screams. :c
So I am getting a Mac, well, planning too, payment plans = good. I can probably pay off most of it though monthly chunks from what I make off of advertising (*crosses fingers*) from the site which is cool, but I don't know what my options are. I want the new OS because it has bootcamp already IN it, and I have heard a lot of positive feedback about it, and plus the people seem really helpful to get me set up so they can run it for me and show me how to use it and yeah. and I'll keep chugster here until I complete the migration and until I feel satisfied that nothing is going to die on me.
And now I will get the slew of biased omg macs suck from other people, but seriously? Choke on a dick and die. I can say I have a pretty unbiased opinion, because I have used both machines extensively for WELL over 2-3 years. I have used a PC all my life, and the entire time wished I had a mac because the PC does not DO what *I* want it to, unless I scavenge for software build shit and add on after add on until its a convoluted katamari-ball of a machine. Design sells, I like things neat and orderly, things that are clean and matched. I always feel mismatched with a PC like I am wearing to different colored socks, sure they will keep you warm, but its not aesthetically pleasing. (unless you are Sammie, she makes it work, but thats it.) I am tired of the PC, I don't want to constantly have to do shit to a product to make it WORK for me. I don't want to have to build it, I don't want to updgrade/downgrade--dowload--remove shit from it I am done, I want the product I buy to fucking work for me. And as a Designer? Very important. I don't have the TIME to fiddle with shit. And be all Serial Experiments Lain with the tubing and the nakedness.
I want to use what works for me and what makes me happy, not to make other people happy or to fit in some idiotic group whether it be PC or Mac users. I just want to create D: and be happy creating.
So yeah. I have a shit-ton of homework to do. Send some good creative vibes my way and pray that my computer holds out for as long as I need it.
And don't forget to vote for TZH! Vote. Votevotevotevote.

Yeah, do whatever you think is right, and what will result in the most Remi. Remi is something that is native to both Macs' and PC's, it lives inside each and everyone of you's, and it sounds like your Remi is crying from the inside out. So what you need to do is get a sock and fill it with oranges, beat it into submission, not metaphorically - and I know oranges don't bruise - I, - REMI WANTS BLOOD.
If that doesn't work just choose whichever makes you happy, and has a lot of phallic imagery. That is the true way to Remi. (which in turn leads to hapiness)(and oranges)

HERE COMES THE HOT STEPPER
Anywho, all new computers come with 10.5
And I'm a nerd, because one reason I like Macs is the unix base. No cygwin for me!
Hang in there, though!
I'm going on my 3rd laptop soon and I have a desktop PC.
The laptop I'm on, HP Pavillion is going on 3-4 years now and has gone through 4 reformats. The screen is hanging on by a very small piece of plastic and needs to be held up. It recently just forgot how to use the disk drive. My other laptop has to be plugged in in order to work and the PC is only good for nothing but at least it can upgrade but I can't be wasting money on upgrades.
PCs have turned to shit. Srsly. I've never used a Mac but I soooooo want to. wondows is getting old.

I personally like both macs and pcs. Tho', I like the visual, neat, practical side of Macs better. Only things that's sad 'bout them is the lack of games working (tho' now you can have windows on it too, so... we're getting there ~).
Anyway. I hope you'll get a nice, shiny new mac soon ^_^
