    Hey everyone!

    For school I am doing a design campaign for snowboarding. So basically, I have to do research, I know nothing about snowboarding! I have made a lot of progress but there is still lots that I don't know.

    I have decided to design a campaign for 'extreme snowboarding' thats the demographic I am trying to hit AND the name of the fake company that we have to design for is called CARVE. I am going for a badass apocalyptic theme.

    I have to design a website, t shirts, logos, snowobards (duh) business cards, posters, lots of things! and I was wondering if any of you could point me in a direction for design ideas, websites, and information on extreme snowboarding, or if any of you yourselves were snowboarders and had any pointers that may help me with my work. Thanks! :D

    Snowboarding good. ZOMGXTREEM bad. I'm really out of the loop even though I'm in a design field, so I can't really point you to anything. But, I tend to auto-hate-on anything that deals with ZOMGXTREEM. Always seems like a marketing gimmick more than anything. ZOMGXTREEM snowboards! ZOMGXTREEM boots! ZOMGXTREEM cheetos! ZOMGXTREEM coffee! ZOMGXTREEM zombie breath! ZOMGXTREEM breadcrumbs! bleaaaagh.

    Snowboarding's fun, though. You should have snowboarding zombies as part of it.

    'Extreme' snowboarding is an actual snowboarding category. It's also called 'freeride' where the boarders go beyond the closed hills and go on more mountainous areas and cliffs and try to go beyond, and to push limits, its more avante guarde in the snowboarding world. Even the gear and snowboards themselves are designed tougher and are more geared to be roughed up, which needs to be considered when designing for it.

    It's more than slapping on a word 'extreme'.

    Only thing I can suggest is incorporating reds or other visible colors into the clothing (though with this theme, I'm sure you were already planning that)

    A real good idea is to analyze the existing companies (K2, Burton, et cetera) and see the the popular trend in ad style is right now. Remember that a REALLY important thing to do in all sports advertising is to show the thing in action! Seriously, like, I've been skating and what not for years and I've never seen a single good ad that didn't actually someone doing a trick. So, y'know, keep that in mind :D

    Considering youre fictional company's name is CARVE: my suggestion is that the general motif of your products should combine the ideas of both "carving" and "extreme snowboarding" like mabye your logo would be a mountain with a knife slashing through it, or possibly a mascot that snowboards on some sort of blade, or the like. it sounds cliche' but a central theme or charachter creates an image that consumers readily associate with a company; and while this company is totally fictional it still would look interesting.


    Who knows... mabye you could sell your designs when you're done to some budding snowboard company and make some cash on the side.

    heya jenny ! umm.. some design ideas hummm well I can help ya with the clothes but I can prolly help with the posters heres an idea ! :D ok theres a snow boarder and he/she is going off a hill and snow flying off the hill and he/she will be wearing your design for the snow suit and it will be like 'EXTREME IS THE ONLY WAY TO GO!' hehe yeah thats all i gots I hope I help jenny >.< I doubt that I did but yeah ... lol
